    Walton Raiders Varsity fall to Blessed Trinity

    Walton Raiders Varsity fell to Blessed Trinity in the season opener at Raider Mountain by a score of 10-5. John Giesler, Pierce Gallo and Luke Boynton all homered. Giesler went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Walton in hits. AJ Montijo, Seth McBrayer and Colin Stewart pitched for Walton. 

    The Varsity is back in action on Friday versus Kennesaw Mountain at Raider Mountain.


    Walton Raiders JV win opener vs. Sprayberry 10 -1

    Walton Raiders JV opened their season with a win over Sprayberry by a score of 10-1.

    Evan Carter, Adit Jaine and William Amparan were on the mound for Walton.  They combined for 10 strikeouts and allowed only 2 hits. The Raiders racked up 12 hits.  Peyton Benson, Nicolas Cubides, Jack Story, and Cade Thompson all collected multiple hits for the Raiders.

    The JV team is back in action today at Raider Mountain vs. Harrison.

    Coach Shane Amos

    Coach Shane Amos is in his 31st year at Walton High School as a teacher and a coach.  He's in his 16th year as Varsity head baseball coach for the Raiders.  In addition to baseball, he is also an assistant coach for Varsity football.

    Coach Amos is a graduate of Osborne High School where he played as a catcher and DH.  He lettered in baseball, wrestling and football.  He is also a graduate of the State University of West Georgia and the University of Alabama.

    From 1995 - 1997, Coach Amos coached the Pebblebrook Falcons and led them to their first playoff in 10 years.  As the head coach for Walton Baseball, he has taken the Raiders to four State Finals (2016, 2015, 2008 and 2007), bringing home the State Championship in 2007 and 2016!

    In 2007, 2015 and 2016, Coach Amos was named the Georgia Dugout Club Coach of the Year and also the Marietta Daily Journal Coach of the Year. In 2017 he was elected to the Georgia Dugout Hall of Fame.

    He and his wife, Cathy, have been married for 28 years and have two beautiful daughters, Ashley Kate (24) and Abby (22).
